OMA Advisory: CAMINAR, Seginus and other Third Party Software
The Problem
The Outcomes Measures Application (or OMA) is not the only computer program that is being used to collect Outcomes. Some contract providers in LA County are using third party software like CAMINAR or Seginus.
OMA is used by all DMH Directly Operated providers and most Contract providers, but some Contractors are using a different system. In many cases, that program does more for them than just collect Outcomes. The plan is to combine the data from those other systems (CAMINAR and Seginus, for example) with data from the DMH’s OMA. The problem is, that data has not been combined yet. There are separate databases for CAMINAR, Seginus and OMA, and they are not talking to each other at them moment.
If you work at an agency that uses CAMINAR, and you receive a transfer client from an agency using OMA or Seginus, you will not see that original Baseline or any other assessments. Likewise, CAMINAR Baselines will not show up in OMA or Seginus databases.
Please see the bottom of this announcement for a list of agencies that use either CAMINAR or Seginus.
The Solution
We believe that the various databases will be talking to each other by March 2009. Until then, there are two things providers need to do.
